Youth & Family Services

Deaf & Hard-Of-Hearing Specialty Services (DHOH)

For Individuals who are Deaf or Hard-Of-Hearing

Perspectives Corporation provides an array of therapeutic services accessible to individuals who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing in Rhode Island. Our specialized team consists of licensed clinical social workers, mental health counselors, and behavior specialists highly knowledgeable in the field of mental health and deafness.

Our team members are proficient in American Sign Language, are native users, or may be advancing their skills in one of our multi-level American Sign Language Classes. All staff come from a culturally affirmative and strength-based approach and may be Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing themselves.

Home-Based Therapeutic Services (HBTS)

This intensive, in-home, therapeutic model is designed for children and families who would benefit from working with a team of behavioral health professionals for several hours each week on treatment goals and objectives. Parents work closely with staff to develop behavioral strategies and communication skills. This service also offers formalized American Sign Language Classes at a reduced cost to parents in this program.

Personal Assistance Support Services (PASS)

This program promotes skill development both in the home and community environments where the focus is to improve the child's ability to complete daily living skills, make safety and self-preserving decisions, and to participate in social roles and social settings. This service is designed to be less intensive than HBTS.

Transitional School Services (TSS)

The Transitional School Services program is committed to the fundamental values of dignity and respect for all students making the important transition from school based services to adulthood. Our goal is to empower students by providing them with hands-on community based experiences that provide invaluable instruction in life skills and opportunities for social inclusion. We understand that the needs of students vary and so we individualize our programming to address the unique strengths, interests and challenges facing each student we support
