Perspectives works with Deaf and Hard of Hearing people receiving services and interested home providers to set up successful Shared Living Arrangements.
Perspectives’ Shared Living Arrangements (SLA) provides people with intellectual or developmental disabilities the opportunity to live in private homes with dedicated providers who support their personal growth and development.
Through the Deaf and Hard of Hearing SLA program, people have the opportunity to live in a natural home environment and choose the person(s) with whom they will live. In return, Providers receive a tax-free stipend, tax-free room and board for the people and other notable benefits and compensation. Providers will also have access to a professional team that is fluent in ASL and can provide support in a linguistically and culturally appropriate way.
In addition to SLA, supported people may also choose to participate in Perspectives’ Deaf and Hard of Hearing Day and Employment Services programs. As a result, many Shared Living Providers work outside the home and continue to have time to enjoy on their own – all while being a positive force in the life of a person with a disability!
