Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Youth & Family Services

If you're the parent of a child with special needs, you may have heard of Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA, as a possible form of therapy.

Here's what you need to know:

 What is ABA Therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy used to help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) learn new skills and reduce problematic behaviors. ABA involves breaking down skills into smaller steps and using positive reinforcement to encourage progress.

What to Expect in ABA Therapy

In ABA therapy, your child will receive personalized home-based treatment that includes:

  • An assessment of their strengths by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • An individualized treatment plan with specific goals and strategies
  • One-on-one sessions with a trained therapist who uses techniques like discrete trial training and positive reinforcement to help your child learn new skills
  • Training for you as a parent on how to support your child's progress outside of therapy sessions.

 Choosing the Right Provider

If you're considering ABA therapy, it's important to choose a qualified provider who can offer personalized treatment plans and experienced, certified therapists.

Our team of certified therapists has been providing specialized youth and family services, including ABA therapy, to children with special needs since 1997. Choosing Perspectives means choosing an experienced provider dedicated to helping your child reach their full potential.
