Community Liaison Alexia Nasatka

It goes without saying that the sort of professionals who come to a place like Perspectives are ones whose first priority is enriching the lives of others. A staple of the industry, these passionate, creative people are dedicated to not only providing the highest level of service they can to others: they're also committed to the innovation, advocacy, and camaraderie that makes it happen, inspiring others to do their best work every day. And with an environment like that, and the energy of such teammates, it's a space that continues to attract like-minded professionals--ones like Alexia Nasatka, who recently came aboard as Perspectives' Community Liaison!

Alexia (Lexie) joins Perspectives' Quality Assurance department with a title that allows her the opportunity to do what she believes in: advocating for individuals to make their voices heard and build meaningful relationships in their community. Her prior experience in the Food and Beverage and Hospitality industries, where she had roles managing teams of staff, coordinating events, operating restaurants' social media, and more, give her experience in collaborating with others and putting people's satisfaction first, which she's proud to bring to the table as she comes to Perspectives. Moreover, some of her other past roles as a wedding planner and Direct Support Professional have also given her the necessary experience in human services, as well as the experience of making others' visions come to life. She takes pride in leading by example, getting input from her peers, and working together with her teams to make any dream a reality.

"The skills I learned in my former positions are all so person-centered," Lexie says. "They have a lot of overlap with what I've come to do here at Perspectives, and I think they give me an edge, as do the connections I've made in these industries along the way."

And, with her working towards a Masters in Holistic Counseling and Certificate in Expressive Arts at Salve Regina University, she's also on her way to delivering her expertise as a holistic coach and counselor, further expanding her ability to help others live their best lives with supports tailored to their goals and personalities. Her passions are centered on personal growth, with an emphasis on mind, body, and spirit connection. With spiritual practices like Reiki informing Lexie's approach to person-centered coaching and personal wellbeing, she has the tools necessary to bring people together in ways that work for them--and with the pandemic keeping so many people apart in early 2020, she knew that it was this sense of connection, and community development that she could use her skills to expand in 2022.

"With my interests and experiences, the position at Perspectives opening up just highlighted it for me: this was going to be a part of my journey."

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, I gave myself the goal of using my helping skills in a new way," notes Lexie, "and with my interests and experiences, the position at Perspectives opening up just highlighted it for me: this was going to be a part of my journey."

Now, after a month on the team learning about Perspectives and its core values, Lexie is only more confident that the agency is the place for her to grow and help others do the same. The core values of Health and Wellness, Ethical Conduct, Quality, Independence, and Vision are all things she already lives in her day-to-day life, both at home and on Salve Regina's campus, where social justice and empowerment of others are the top priorities. As Lexie always strives to be her authentic self--a kind, courageous, hardworking person who believes in the power of community and making each day as fun as it is productive--she's finding herself right at home, and she's excited to develop the next level of networking and community mapping for individuals we support.

"I'm learning so much about the agency in these first few weeks," Lexie says, "and to know that I've found a place where the leadership really appreciates my talents and supports my work is amazing. I'm looking forward to working with individuals we support and helping them make their own choices to determine who they are and what they want their life to be like."

Already, she's been welcomed aboard by not only her fellow professionals in Perspectives' Quality Assurance department, but several other parts of the agency, and the community of like-minded, motivated professionals she's found to share her goals with are a huge encouragement. She brings seriously invaluable experience into her new role, all coming together on one important theme: supporting people to make the choices that will best support their vision, their dreams, and their identity. There's something incredibly exciting about being a part of another person's life to that degree--and we're excited to see what the future holds with Lexie on the team!
